A unique historical archive, brought to life for the first time in CD format. Veteran journalist John Roberts, the Daily Express's former north west sports writer, spoke to football icon Dixie Dean as part of his project to produce Everton's official centenary history publication in the late 1970s.
Subjects ranging from the modern game, his career at Everton and of course, the 1927/28 season when he scored a record 60 goals during the top flight season were amongst the topics discussed, all recorded on cassette tape, which have recently been retrieved.
As an added bonus we have included Dean recollections from another Everton and footballing legend, the great Joe Mercer, another of the club's favourite sons who, like Dean, was interviewed as part of Roberts' project.
